The purpose of accent is to allow ASCII indications of Spanish-like accent marks. It is not so much a program as it is an idea.
The idea is for accent marks to be indicated by an apostrophe, e.g., si', rather than using a complicated character encoding and a strange key combination. As Spanish does not need apostrophes, there should be very little chance for confusion.
accent indicates accent marks using HTML notation, e.g., é.
